When I saw this stunning scavenger ship concept on Artstation, I just knew that I had to make it! This project marked my first deep dive into hand-painted textures, and I quickly fell in love with the process. It was so rewarding and fun that I will definitely be trying this again in the future! To create the model, I started by blocking it out in Maya and refining it in ZBrush, where I added sculpted details. I retopologized the low-poly model and baked the high-poly details into normals using Marmoset. The hand-painted textures were done in Substance Painter, and I brought the final piece to life with some postprocessing and rendering in Unreal Engine.
